There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ , who walk not after , but after . For of of life in Christ hath made me free from of and . For what could not do, in that it was weak through , sending his own Son in the of , and for , condemned in : That the of might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after , but after . For they that are after do the things of ; but they that are after the things of . For to be carnally minded is ; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the is enmity against : for it is not subject to of , neither indeed can be. So then they that are in cannot please . But ye are not in , but in , if so be that of in you. Now if any man have not of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is because of ; but is life because of . But if of him that up from in you, he that up Christ from shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his that dwelleth in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to , to live after . For if ye live after , ye shall : but if ye through do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by of , they are . For ye have not received of bondage again to fear; but ye have received of adoption, whereby we cry, . itself beareth with our , that we are the children of : And if children, then ; of , and joint- with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the which shall be in us. For the earnest of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of . For the creature was made subject to , not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in , Because the creature itself also shall be from the bondage of corruption into the of the children of . For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the of , even we ourselves groan within ourselves, for the adoption, to wit, the of our body. For we are by : but that is seen is not : for what a man seeth, why doth he yet for? But if we for that we see not, then do we with wait for it. Likewise also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should for as we ought: but itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the knoweth what is of , because he maketh intercession for according to the will of . And we know that all things work together for good to them that love , to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the of his Son, that he might be among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also : and whom he , them he also glorified. What shall we then say to these things? If be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Who shall lay any thing to the charge of ’s elect? It is that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that , yea rather, that is again, who is even at of , who also maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or , or , or peril, or ? As , For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither , nor life, nor , nor , nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of , which is in Christ our .

Judea as a client kingdom and then a province. Roads, garrisons, taxes, crucifixion, and a common Greek language that let a message travel the empire faster than any before it.
- Rome
- The republic tears itself apart in civil war and comes out as an empire under Augustus. What follows is two centuries of relative peace across the whole Mediterranean, enforced by legions and paid for by taxes, with safe roads and safe sea lanes. Every one of Paul's journeys depends on that.
- Judea
- Governed first through Herod the Great, a client king of enormous ability and enormous brutality who rebuilds the temple into one of the wonders of the ancient world, then directly by Roman prefects. Crucifixion is the standard penalty for sedition and is used often and publicly.
- The wider world
- Greek is spoken from Spain to Syria, which means a letter written in Corinth can be read in Rome without translation. Jewish communities already exist in most major cities, which is where the first Christian preaching lands. Mystery religions, imperial cult, and philosophy all compete in the same marketplace.
- Further afield
- The Han dynasty rules China and trades silk westward along routes that touch the Roman world at second hand. In Britain the Roman conquest begins within a decade of the crucifixion.
