Beit Midrash

בֵּית מִדְרָשׁ

When Jesus was twelve, his family found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening, and asking questions. The believers in Berea were praised for examining the Scriptures daily. God's people have always been people of the open book, and beit midrash is simply the old name for the room where that happens: a house of study, the book open on the table, a chair for anyone.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path.”

Psalm 119:105
