What shall we say then? Shall we continue in , that may abound? forbid. How shall we, that are to , live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were into were into his ? Therefore we are buried with him by into : that like as Christ was up from by the of , even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the of his , we shall be also in the of his : Knowing this, that our old man is with him, that the body of might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not . For he that is is freed from . Now if we be with Christ, we that we shall also live with him: Knowing that Christ being dieth no more; hath no more over him. For in that he , he unto once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto . Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be indeed unto , but alive unto through our . Let not therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto : but yield yourselves unto , as those that are alive from , and your members as instruments of unto . For shall not over you: for ye are not , but under . What then? shall we , because we are not , but under ? forbid. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to , his servants ye are to whom ye ; whether of unto , or of unto ? But be thanked, that ye were the servants of , but ye have from that form of doctrine which was you. Being then from , ye became the servants of . I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your : for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to unto ; even so now yield your members servants to unto . The world at this moment · Under Rome, 63 BC to AD 100

Judea as a client kingdom and then a province. Roads, garrisons, taxes, crucifixion, and a common Greek language that let a message travel the empire faster than any before it.

Rome
The republic tears itself apart in civil war and comes out as an empire under Augustus. What follows is two centuries of relative peace across the whole Mediterranean, enforced by legions and paid for by taxes, with safe roads and safe sea lanes. Every one of Paul's journeys depends on that.
Judea
Governed first through Herod the Great, a client king of enormous ability and enormous brutality who rebuilds the temple into one of the wonders of the ancient world, then directly by Roman prefects. Crucifixion is the standard penalty for sedition and is used often and publicly.
The wider world
Greek is spoken from Spain to Syria, which means a letter written in Corinth can be read in Rome without translation. Jewish communities already exist in most major cities, which is where the first Christian preaching lands. Mystery religions, imperial cult, and philosophy all compete in the same marketplace.
Further afield
The Han dynasty rules China and trades silk westward along routes that touch the Roman world at second hand. In Britain the Roman conquest begins within a decade of the crucifixion.
