Now I declare to you, brothers, the which I preached to you, which also you received, in which you also stand, by which also you are , if you hold firmly the word which I preached to you—unless you in . For I to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ for our according to , that he was buried, that he was on the third day according to , and that he appeared to , then to the twelve. Then he appeared to over five hundred brothers at once, most of whom until now, but some have also fallen asleep. Then he appeared to , then to all , and last of all, as to the child born at the wrong time, he appeared to me also. For I am the least of , who is not worthy to be called , because I persecuted of . But by the of I am what I am. His which was given to me was not futile, but I worked more than all of them; yet not I, but the of which was with me. Whether then it is I or they, so we preach, and so you . Now if Christ is preached, that he has been , how do some among you say that there is no of ? But if there is no of , neither has Christ been . If Christ has not been , then our preaching is in and your also is in . Yes, we are also found false of , because we testified about that he up Christ, whom he didn't raise up if it is true that are not . 16For if aren't , neither has Christ been . If Christ has not been , your is ; you are still in your . Then they also who are fallen asleep in Christ have . If we have only in Christ in this life, we are of all men most pitiable. But now Christ has been . He became the first fruit of those who are asleep. For since came by man, the of also came by man. For as in all , so also in Christ all will be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ the , then those who are Christ's at his coming. Then the end comes, when he will up to , when he will have abolished all rule and all and . For he must reign until he has put all his . The last enemy that will be abolished is . For, "He put all things in subjection ." But when he says, "All things are put in subjection", it is evident that he is excepted who subjected all things to him. When all things have been subjected to him, then the Son will also himself be subjected to him who subjected all things to him, that may be all in all. Or else what will they do who are for ? If aren't at all, why then are they for ? Why do we also stand in jeopardy every hour? I affirm, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ our , I daily. If I fought with animals at for human purposes, what does it profit me? If are not , then "let's eat and drink, for tomorrow we ." Don't be deceived! "Evil companionships corrupt good morals." Wake up righteously and don't , for some have no knowledge of . I say this to your . But someone will say, "How are ?" and, "With what kind of body do they come?" You foolish one, that which you yourself sow is not made alive unless it dies. 37That which you sow, you don't sow the body that will be, but a grain, maybe of wheat, or of some other kind. But gives it a body even as it pleased him, and to each a body of its own. is not the same , but there is one of men, another of animals, another of fish, and another of birds. 40There are also celestial bodies and terrestrial bodies; but the of the celestial differs from that of the terrestrial. There is one of the sun, another of the moon, and another of the stars; for one star differs from another star in . So also is the of . The body is sown perishable; it is imperishable. It is sown in dishonor; it is in . It is sown in weakness; it is in . It is sown a natural body; it is a spiritual body. There is a natural body and there is also a spiritual body. So also , "The first man became a living ." The last became a life-giving . However, that which is spiritual isn't first, but that which is natural, then that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, made of . The second man is from . As is the one made of , such are those who are also made of ; and as is the , such are they also that are . As we have borne the of those made of , let's also bear the of the . Now I say this, brothers, that and can't Kingdom; neither does the perishable imperishable. Behold, I tell you a . We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last . For the will sound and will be incorruptible, and we will be changed. For this perishable body must become imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality. But when this perishable body will have become imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then what is written will happen: " is swallowed up in victory." ", where is your sting? , where is your victory?" The sting of is , and the of is . But thanks be to , who gives us the victory through our . Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in work, because you know that your labor is not in in .

The world at this moment · Under Rome, 63 BC to AD 100

Judea as a client kingdom and then a province. Roads, garrisons, taxes, crucifixion, and a common Greek language that let a message travel the empire faster than any before it.

Rome
The republic tears itself apart in civil war and comes out as an empire under Augustus. What follows is two centuries of relative peace across the whole Mediterranean, enforced by legions and paid for by taxes, with safe roads and safe sea lanes. Every one of Paul's journeys depends on that.
Judea
Governed first through Herod the Great, a client king of enormous ability and enormous brutality who rebuilds the temple into one of the wonders of the ancient world, then directly by Roman prefects. Crucifixion is the standard penalty for sedition and is used often and publicly.
The wider world
Greek is spoken from Spain to Syria, which means a letter written in Corinth can be read in Rome without translation. Jewish communities already exist in most major cities, which is where the first Christian preaching lands. Mystery religions, imperial cult, and philosophy all compete in the same marketplace.
Further afield
The Han dynasty rules China and trades silk westward along routes that touch the Roman world at second hand. In Britain the Roman conquest begins within a decade of the crucifixion.
